The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of an alleged armed robbery syndicate and recovered three locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges during an operation across Ogun and Lagos states.
The suspects were identified as 46-year-old Adeyinka Onakomaya and 48-year-old Olayiwola Kehinde. They were arrested over their alleged involvement in armed robbery, carjacking and unlawful possession of firearms.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
According to him, the breakthrough followed months of intelligence gathering by operatives of the command’s Anti-Robbery Team after a stolen red Toyota Matrix was recovered in April.
The vehicle was reportedly linked to an armed robbery incident, prompting detectives to intensify investigations and trace members of the suspected gang.
Babaseyi said Onakomaya was tracked to the Babaode area along Idiroko Road in Ota, Ogun State, while Kehinde was arrested in the Command area of Lagos State.
Preliminary investigations, according to the police, revealed that the suspects and other members of their alleged gang were involved in the April robbery and several violent vehicle-snatching incidents in Ota, Iju, Babaode and Atan areas of Ogun State.
