An 80-year-old man, identified as Amos Onwe Ubochi, has been reportedly killed in Osege village, Umuogodo Oshia Ngbo community, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Ubochi was allegedly murdered on Monday, August 17, 2026, after attending a prayer session where he reportedly joined other community elders in praying for candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
According to reports, the elderly man was on his way home after the gathering when he was allegedly attacked along a bush path. His body was later discovered in a stream within a forested area on Tuesday.
The Ebonyi State Police Command confirmed the incident on Wednesday, saying it had commenced an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death and identify those responsible.
In a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Joshua Ukandu, police said Ubochi left his residence on August 17 but failed to return home.
The command said his lifeless body was discovered along a bush path the following day. Police operatives reportedly visited the scene and evacuated the body to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, where he was confirmed dead before being deposited at the mortuary.
