The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has dismantled a suspected transnational human trafficking network, rescuing two victims and arresting 12 suspects during coordinated operations in Lagos and Ogun States.
The crackdown, which targeted a criminal syndicate allegedly linked to the notorious QNET/IGNITE network, was confirmed in a statement issued by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, Akinsola Akinlabi.
According to the statement, the alleged kingpin of the group, identified as Ouattra Adama, a Burkinabé national, was apprehended alongside 11 other suspects.
The arrested individuals include eight Liberians and three Cameroonians believed to be facilitators in the trafficking operation.
The NIS disclosed that the operation followed credible intelligence on the activities of criminal groups involved in irregular migration and other forms of transnational organised crime.

During the raid, two Liberian nationals were rescued after reportedly being lured into Nigeria with false promises of employment, business opportunities, and overseas travel.
Authorities revealed that the victims were subjected to fraudulent and exploitative conditions by the syndicate. All suspects and rescued individuals have since been transferred to the NIS headquarters in Abuja for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Service reiterated its commitment to intelligence-driven border management and its ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking, irregular migration, and cross-border crimes.
It also urged members of the public to exercise caution by verifying all job, business, and travel offers through appropriate channels before making financial commitments or embarking on international journeys.
The NIS emphasized that the successful operation underscores its resolve to dismantle criminal networks and enhance national security in line with the federal government’s broader agenda.
