
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued 14 kidnapped victims following an encounter with terrorists in the Madaci Forest area of Sabuwa Local Government Area, Katsina State.
The rescue operation was carried out on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, after security forces received intelligence about the movement of terrorists reportedly transporting kidnapped victims through the area.
The Media Information Officer of Operation Fansan Yamma, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said the troops swiftly mobilised to the location and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding bushes.
A subsequent search of the area led to the rescue of 14 victims, comprising six males and eight females.

According to Danja, preliminary investigations revealed that the victims had been kidnapped from different locations around Dandume, Bakori and Funtua Local Government Areas of Katsina State.
The rescued victims have since been handed over to the relevant authorities for necessary assistance and reunification with their families.
Danja said the successful operation underscores the military’s commitment to protecting residents and disrupting terrorist activities across the North-West.
He added that troops would continue to sustain pressure on terrorist elements and intensify operations aimed at safeguarding communities in the region.
The military also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations against criminal and terrorist groups.
