
Enugu Rangers have retained their position at the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, table after defeating Bendel Insurance 2-1 in a crucial encounter on Sunday.
Experienced striker Godwin Obaje delivered a match-winning performance for the Flying Antelopes, scoring both goals to hand his side a valuable victory in the title race.
Bendel Insurance managed to reduce the deficit through Alex Oweifaleya, but Rangers held firm to secure maximum points.
The win keeps Rangers in control of the league standings with 65 points from 37 matches, just one point ahead of second-placed Rivers United.

Rivers United also boosted their title ambitions with a dramatic 3-2 away victory over Wikki Tourists. The Port Harcourt club came from behind twice in the match, showing resilience to stay within touching distance of the league leaders.
With only one game remaining this season, the NPFL title race is expected to go down to the wire. Rangers will face Ikorodu City in Lagos on the final day, while Rivers United are set to host Katsina United in Port Harcourt.
Meanwhile, Wikki Tourists’ defeat confirmed their relegation from the top flight to the Nigeria National League, NNL. Bayelsa United also suffered relegation after losing 2-1 away to Remo Stars in Ikenne.
The final round of fixtures will now determine the league champions as well as complete the relegation picture for the season.
