Spanish giants Real Madrid have confirmed disciplinary action against midfielders Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni following a heated altercation during training that reportedly left Valverde requiring hospital treatment.
The incident occurred during a tense training session at the club’s Valdebebas facility on Thursday, as frustrations continue to mount over Madrid’s disappointing campaign.
In an official statement, the club announced that internal disciplinary proceedings had been opened against both players after the confrontation escalated.
According to reports from Spanish media, Valverde suffered a facial injury during the clash and was later taken to a nearby hospital, accompanied by coach Álvaro Arbeloa.

The Uruguayan midfielder reportedly received stitches for a cut near his forehead.
Real Madrid later confirmed that Valverde sustained a head injury but stated that he was in stable condition and would need up to two weeks of rest.
The injury is expected to rule him out of Sunday’s crucial El Clasico showdown against rivals FC Barcelona in La Liga.
Valverde later attempted to calm speculation surrounding the incident through a message posted on social media. He described the altercation as a consequence of pressure and frustration from the season, insisting that neither player intentionally attacked the other.
“The tension of competition and frustration caused the situation to escalate,” Valverde reportedly said. “I accidentally hit a table during the argument, which caused a small cut that required medical attention.”
Spanish newspaper Marca reported that tensions between the two midfielders had already begun during Wednesday’s training session before continuing the following day.
The report claimed Valverde initially refused to shake Tchouameni’s hand before both players became involved in another confrontation during training.
The disagreement allegedly continued inside the dressing room after the session, where the injury occurred unintentionally during the scuffle. Reports stressed that the wound was not caused directly by a punch from Tchouameni.
Neither the club nor representatives of the players provided additional comments beyond the official statement.
The incident comes at a difficult moment for Real Madrid, who are facing the possibility of ending a second consecutive season without a major trophy.
Barcelona currently hold a commanding lead at the top of the La Liga table and could secure another league title this weekend depending on results.
