A fire outbreak has affected a section of Purple Crown Hotel on Balogun Street, along Awolowo Road, Ikeja, Lagos, with no deaths or injuries recorded.
The incident was reported at about 9:52 am on Saturday, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.
LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the agency’s Tiger Squad, working with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Nigeria Police, arrived at the hotel within 10 minutes of receiving the distress call.
According to him, responders found that a room on the first floor had been severely affected by the fire.
Preliminary investigation indicated that an electrical fault within the affected room may have triggered the incident.
The fire caused significant smoke and fire damage to part of the hotel. However, all guests and staff were safely evacuated to a designated muster point.

A roll call was also conducted under the supervision of emergency responders and police officers to ensure that everyone in the building had been accounted for.
The joint response team eventually brought the fire under control and completely extinguished it, preventing the flames from spreading to other parts of the building.
Following the incident, access to the hotel was restricted as a precaution due to the extent of the smoke and fire damage. The affected section was also cordoned off pending a detailed structural and electrical assessment by the relevant authorities.
Oke-Osanyintolu said normal operations at the affected premises would only resume after safety officials had given clearance.
He urged hotel operators, facility managers and business owners to prioritise regular electrical maintenance, properly maintain fire suppression equipment and train their staff on emergency evacuation procedures.
He also commended the emergency responders for their swift response and coordination, saying their efforts helped prevent the situation from escalating and protected lives and property.
