In a significant blow to criminal elements operating within the Iseyin axis of Oyo State, the Agro-Rangers Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) successfully repelled an attack by suspected kidnappers and bandits on Friday.
The high-stakes encounter, which underscored the intensifying efforts to secure the state’s agricultural hubs, resulted in the death of one armed suspect and the successful capture of two others.
The tactical operation was triggered by a distress call that prompted a swift mobilization of the Agro-Rangers alongside other security agencies. Upon reaching the targeted location, the security operatives were met with immediate gunfire from a group of five armed individuals.
Responding with what officials described as superior firepower and tactical professionalism, the NSCDC team engaged the suspects in a gun battle that lasted several minutes, effectively pinning down the criminal cell.
According to a statement released by SC Samuel Opebiyi, the Public Relations Officer for the Oyo State Command, the decisive action of the rangers led to the neutralization of one bandit on-site.

While two suspects were taken into custody alive, the remaining two members of the gang managed to retreat into the dense forest, reportedly suffering from gunshot wounds sustained during the exchange.
Following the skirmish, a search of the immediate area led to the recovery of several incriminating items, including a cartridge gun, ammunition shells, two cutlasses, a metal rod, and an assortment of charms.
These exhibits, along with the apprehended suspects, have since been transferred to the Nigeria Police Force at the Iseyin Divisional Headquarters to facilitate further investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.
Reflecting on the success of the mission, State Commandant Augustine Padonu lauded the gallantry and prompt response of the operatives. He emphasized that the strategic deployment of the Agro-Rangers across the Iseyin region is a cornerstone of the command’s proactive initiative to eliminate criminality and safeguard critical national assets.
Padonu further reminded residents that maintaining a secure environment is a collective responsibility, urging the public to remain vigilant and continue providing security agencies with timely, credible information.
