Nigerian troops and police operatives have rescued seven kidnapped victims, including six female students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), in Katsina State.
The victims were rescued along the Dayi–Malumfashi road during a security operation carried out at about 11:45pm on Monday.
The operation involved troops of the Nigerian Army’s 17 Brigade working alongside operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.

According to security sources, the operatives intercepted a green Volkswagen Golf 3 with registration number Kano BCH-528ZY while it was allegedly conveying the kidnapped victims along the route.
The rescued victims included six female students of FUDMA and the driver of the vehicle, identified as Sani Umar.
Security expert Zagazola Makama confirmed the rescue on Tuesday, saying the operation was part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities along the Dayi–Malumfashi route.
He said security personnel were continuing to ensure the safety and well-being of the rescued victims while also working to determine the circumstances surrounding their abduction.
Military sources said troops remained on high alert and continued to maintain strong operational readiness across the area.
The rescue comes amid sustained security operations in parts of Katsina State, particularly along routes and communities affected by kidnapping and other criminal activities.
