Three kidnapped victims have been rescued by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA during a security operation along the Dandume-Sheme Road in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The victims were rescued on Thursday, September 3, following a distress alert from residents who reported the movement of suspected terrorists along the route.
The troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, working alongside personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, quickly mobilised to the area and engaged the suspected terrorists.
According to the Joint Task Force’s Media Information Officer, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the security forces overwhelmed the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat into the surrounding bush.
Danja said the fleeing terrorists abandoned the kidnapped victims as they escaped from the advancing security personnel.

He disclosed that further operations in the area led to the rescue of the three victims and the recovery of two vehicles allegedly used by the terrorists.
The rescued victims and recovered vehicles were subsequently handed over to the Divisional Police Officer in Dandume for further action.
Meanwhile, troops have continued to intensify patrols along the Dandume-Sheme corridor to restrict the movement of terrorists and prevent further attacks.
The Joint Task Force commended residents for their support and urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
