Manchester United have signed midfielder Kobbie Mainoo to a new five-year contract that runs until 2031, the club announced on Thursday.
Mainoo, 21, joined United’s academy at age nine and has made 98 senior appearances. He scored in the 2024 FA Cup final win against Manchester City.
Mainoo’s role changed during the season. He was out of favor under former manager Ruben Amorim and had a loan request rejected in August. He started one League Cup match in the first half of the season.
Since Michael Carrick’s appointment in January, Mainoo has started all but one match. United are third in the Premier League.

On the new deal, Mainoo said Old Trafford has always been his home and that he values representing the city.
Director of Football Jason Wilcox called Mainoo a “naturally gifted” talent and a “credit” to the academy.
Mainoo has also returned to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.
