The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Plateau State has alleged that an attack on herders in Aloghom community, Mangu Local Government Area, left three people dead and about 50 cattle killed.
The state chairman of MACBAN, Ibrahim Babayo, said the incident occurred on Saturday when gunmen allegedly attacked the herders while they were grazing their cattle.
Babayo claimed that the herders were in a designated grazing area and had not entered any farmland before the attack.
He identified the deceased as Garzali Shaibu, 18, Bashiru Yakubu, 14, and Salim Abubakar, 15.
According to him, the attackers allegedly opened fire on the herders without provocation, killing three people and 50 cattle.
Babayo described the incident as brutal and alleged that it was part of an attempt to target Fulani herders and destroy their means of livelihood in Plateau State.

He said MACBAN had reported the incident to security agencies, including the Department of State Services and Operation Safe Haven, the military-led security outfit responsible for maintaining peace in Plateau and neighbouring areas.
The MACBAN chairman appealed to Fulani communities to remain calm and avoid retaliation.
He urged security agencies to investigate the attack, identify those responsible and ensure that the victims receive justice.
