Troops of Sector 8, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have arrested a suspected motorcycle thief and recovered a motorcycle allegedly stolen from a dispatch rider in Plateau State.
The suspect, identified as Hosiah Alfred, was arrested at about 5:50 a.m. on August 24, 2026, during a stop-and-search operation at the Sabon Gari checkpoint in Mangu Local Government Area of the state.
The troops, operating under Operation HARD KNOCK, reportedly intercepted Alfred while he was travelling in a commercial vehicle heading to Duklin in Bauchi State from Abuja.
Security sources said the troops became suspicious after noticing the motorcycle in his possession and questioned him about its ownership.
During interrogation, Alfred allegedly confessed to stealing the motorcycle from a dispatch rider identified as Yusuf Gideon, who works for a man identified as Nonso in Abuja.

The suspect and the recovered motorcycle have been handed over to the troops for further investigation.
Authorities are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft, identify the rightful owner of the motorcycle and determine whether the suspect may be connected to other criminal activities.
The arrest is part of ongoing security operations and stop-and-search activities along major routes in Plateau State aimed at detecting criminal activities and preventing the movement of stolen property.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
