A young man, identified as the son of a pastor of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), was killed during a late-night attack on Kuk village in Gashish District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack reportedly occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday when armed men suspected to be Fulani militants invaded the pastor’s residence. According to local sources, the assailants forced their way into the house and opened fire with automatic weapons, fatally shooting the pastor’s son.
Reports indicated that local civilian guards quickly responded to the attack, confronting the gunmen and forcing them to flee before soldiers arrived from a nearby military base. Their intervention was said to have prevented further casualties within the family.

Earlier on Sunday, residents of several communities in Barkin Ladi and neighbouring Riyom Local Government Area had reportedly received security warnings about the movement of armed men in the area. The alert urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid isolated routes, and promptly report suspicious activities to community leaders and security agencies.
The warning also called on the military and other security agencies to strengthen their presence across vulnerable communities to prevent further attacks.
As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had not officially commented on the incident, while residents remained on high alert following the renewed violence.
