Nigerian music star Peter Okoye has addressed the ongoing tension within the Okoye family, insisting that the dispute is rooted in betrayal and long-standing internal issues rather than any influence from marriage or external relationships.
In a series of posts shared on Wednesday via his X account, the singer dismissed claims circulating online that a woman was responsible for the renewed family conflict, describing such narratives as misleading and inaccurate.
Mr P maintained that the crisis dates back over two decades, long before any of the brothers got married, stressing that the core issue is what he described as betrayal and alleged mismanagement of his work and earnings.
He wrote that no woman played any role in the dispute, adding that attempts to shift the narrative away from the real issues were intentional and misleading.
The singer also reacted to public commentary surrounding his recent decision to change the date he celebrates his birthday.

He had earlier announced that November 18 would no longer be his birthday, instead moving the celebration to November 30, a decision that sparked mixed reactions online.
Critics argued that family disagreements should not affect personal milestones, especially among twins. However, Mr P insisted that the decision was personal and linked to deeper unresolved issues within the family.
According to him, the idea of family unity being emphasized now ignores years of alleged wrongdoing, adding that the conflict had been ongoing for more than 20 years.
He further stated that the matter is already before the court, noting that distancing himself from certain family members has become necessary for his peace of mind.
Mr P added that while the situation is painful, setting boundaries is essential, even within family relationships, especially when trust has been broken.
The comments have once again drawn public attention to the long-standing rift involving Peter Okoye, his twin brother Paul Okoye, and their elder brother Jude Okoye, a dispute that continues to generate debate among fans and observers.
