Singer Asake has argued being humble in the music industry is often seen as a weakness, while displaying ego can make artists more attractive to fans.
Asake, who appeared in a viral video on Tiktok, said that people are more interested in the end result rather than the process behind an artist’s work.
He noted that artists who appear humble are often taken for granted, while those with an air of confidence or ego are seen as less accessible and therefore more appealing.
He advised artists to focus on delivering results and letting their work speak for itself, rather than seeking validation or trying to show the process behind their craft.
“As an artiste, if you’re humble, they take you for granted. But if you have ego they feel like you’re not accessible then they like you more. People would rather see what you’re doing than showing them. They don’t really appreciate it. Do what you need to do and just go,” he said.
