The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two wanted suspects linked to a series of kidnapping operations, further exposing a wider criminal network operating across state lines.
The arrest was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement released on Saturday.
According to him, the suspects were apprehended following a well-coordinated operation based on credible intelligence by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu.
One of the suspects, identified as Dauda Mohamed, reportedly confessed during interrogation to being a member of a notorious kidnapping syndicate believed to be operating from Kogi State. He allegedly admitted to participating in multiple abduction operations.
Further revelations from the suspect led to the identification of Umar Ali as the alleged leader of the gang. Ali is said to be responsible for coordinating logistics and supplying weapons used in the group’s criminal activities. Other members of the syndicate were identified as Usman and Gongola, who are currently on the run.

Investigations also linked the suspect to a kidnapping incident at Divine Heritage Lodge in Ukwulu, located in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.
During the attack, armed assailants reportedly emerged from an uncompleted building behind the lodge, fired gunshots to create panic, and abducted a victim into a nearby bush.
The kidnappers later demanded a ransom of ₦30 million for the victim’s release.
The police command has assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects and dismantle the entire criminal network.
Authorities also reiterated their commitment to enhancing security across the state and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing operations.
