Hull City have secured promotion to the Premier League after beating Middlesbrough 1-0 in a dramatic Championship play-off final on Saturday. The win makes them the third Championship side to earn a place in England’s top flight next season.
Oli McBurnie scored the decisive goal in the 94th minute after capitalizing on a goalkeeping error. Middlesbrough’s Sol Brynn punched a cross into the area, and McBurnie reacted quickest to prod home the winner and spark wild celebrations among Hull fans.

The result means Hull City will join Coventry City and Ipswich Town in the Premier League next season. They also become the first team since Blackpool to finish sixth in the regular season and still go up through the play-offs.
For Middlesbrough, the defeat extends their stay in the Championship. Boro had been reinstated into the final despite a semi-final loss following Southampton’s ‘Spygate’ scandal, but they could not convert the second chance into promotion.
