No fewer than 30 people, including eight children, have been killed in a fresh attack by suspected terrorists on Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The assailants reportedly invaded the community late Sunday night, around 11 p.m., unleashing terror on residents. Witnesses said the attackers shot indiscriminately and set several houses and shops ablaze, leaving widespread destruction and multiple casualties.
A community official, Dogon Rana, confirmed the incident, describing it as one of the most devastating attacks the village has ever experienced.
According to him, many residents were caught off guard—some still engaged in evening activities, while others had already gone to bed.
“At least 30 people have been confirmed dead, including eight children. Four others are critically injured and currently receiving treatment, but we fear the death toll may rise,” he stated.
Rana also recounted the scale of personal losses suffered by families, revealing that one resident lost five children in a single night, with only one surviving child now in critical condition.

He added that his own home, along with several others and local businesses, was destroyed in the attack.
Residents blamed the high number of casualties on poor infrastructure, particularly the lack of a motorable road linking the community. This, they said, delayed emergency response and made escape difficult during the attack.
“There is no accessible road to our village. If we had one, many lives could have been saved,” Rana lamented.
Another resident, who spoke anonymously, claimed the attack lasted for about three hours without intervention, despite nearby security formations located just a few kilometers away. He also alleged that over 20 members of a single family were among those killed.
The affected community has appealed to both the federal and Kaduna State governments to urgently deploy more security personnel and prioritize the construction of an access road to prevent further tragedies.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
