Entrepreneur Sophia Momodu has opened up about the stigma and ridicule she faced after becoming pregnant out of wedlock with Nigerian singer Davido.
Momodu shared her experience during a side panel at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, saying her background as a pastor’s daughter made the experience particularly difficult.
She said she was mocked publicly and struggled for years to find her voice amid the negativity surrounding her relationship with Davido.

“I am a pastor’s daughter who got pregnant out of wedlock by a global superstar. And I was mocked. It was crazy,” she said.
Momodu said an aunt once advised her to remain silent about the experience, but speaking publicly eventually helped her realise that many other women had gone through similar situations.
She said the support and platforms she received encouraged her to continue sharing her story and advocating for women facing similar challenges.
Momodu and Davido welcomed their daughter, Imade Adeleke, in 2015. The pair never married and their relationship and subsequent co-parenting arrangement have been marked by several public disputes.
Momodu is the founder of the Precious Jewels Foundation and has also worked in fashion, beauty and television.
