A civil society organisation has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to GUO Logistics following a fatal road accident involving a passenger bus and a truck reportedly belonging to the transport company, which claimed five lives and left several others injured.
The organisation, Citizens for Good Governance, Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Initiative, is demanding that GUO Logistics immediately engage the families of the deceased and injured passengers, provide urgent assistance to survivors and address concerns surrounding the tragic incident.
In a statement signed by its Director-General, Comr. Danesi Momoh Prince, the group disclosed that the accident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on August 28, 2026, along a route involving a Toyota Hiace bus conveying more than 23 passengers from Gombe State to Lagos State.
According to the organisation, a truck allegedly belonging to GUO Logistics rammed into the passenger bus, resulting in the deaths of five people, including students travelling to Lagos for their mandatory Industrial Training (IT).
The deceased were identified as Isiyaku Sa’idu, Maigana Mohammed, popularly known as Abbati, Anas Abubakar, who was reportedly driving the bus, Zaiyanu Bajoga and Abubakar Ibrahim.
Describing the incident as heartbreaking, the group said the tragedy had cut short the dreams and aspirations of the victims while leaving several other passengers with injuries and families devastated by the loss of their loved ones.
The organisation called on GUO Logistics to demonstrate compassion and corporate responsibility by immediately contacting the affected families through available passenger manifests, booking records and other travel documents.
It also demanded urgent financial and medical assistance for injured passengers, engagement with healthcare facilities handling their treatment, and discussions with bereaved families regarding appropriate support and compensation in line with applicable laws and investigation findings.
Additionally, the group requested a public statement from the company explaining the steps being taken to address the incident and the establishment of an official communication channel for affected families.
It warned that failure by GUO Logistics to demonstrate meaningful engagement within 72 hours could trigger peaceful nationwide protests and mass picketing of its offices and operational facilities.

The organisation also threatened to petition relevant regulatory and law enforcement agencies to ensure that the circumstances surrounding the accident receive proper attention.
However, it clarified that the ultimatum was not intended to force the company to conclude its investigation within three days but to ensure that immediate humanitarian assistance reaches the victims and their families.
Meanwhile, GUO Logistics management has rejected allegations that the victims and their families were abandoned following the accident.
A management staff member, whose identity was not disclosed, maintained that the company’s representatives had been actively involved in responding to the incident from the day it occurred.
According to the representative, company personnel were present at the general hospital where the victims were taken, remaining there from the early hours of the day until approximately 1 a.m.
The staff member further claimed that representatives accompanied the victims during their transportation back to Gombe State and had continued visiting hospitals and the police station to monitor developments.
The representative also disclosed that members of the company’s team visited the hospital and police station as recently as the previous day, remaining there until about 8 p.m.
The management insisted that it had maintained consistent involvement in the matter and had not abandoned the affected passengers or their families.
Despite the company’s response, the civil society organisation maintained that it would continue monitoring developments and engaging relevant stakeholders to ensure that the victims and their families receive the necessary support.
It stressed that while the precise circumstances of the accident and legal responsibility must be established through a thorough investigation, humanitarian assistance should not be delayed.
The group reiterated that the dignity of the deceased, the welfare of injured survivors and the concerns of grieving families must remain a priority.
It maintained that corporate reputation should never take precedence over human lives, calling on GUO Logistics to demonstrate transparency, compassion and accountability as efforts continue to address the aftermath of the tragedy.
