The Gombe State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper and rescued three abducted persons during a joint security operation in parts of the state.
The operation was carried out on September 8, 2026, around suspected criminal hideouts in Kowagel, Dukku Local Government Area, and parts of Bojude in Kwami Local Government Area.
The operation involved personnel of the police, military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, vigilante groups and hunters.
Police identified the arrested suspect as 30-year-old Manu Alhaji Sani, a resident of Wawa Village in Funakaye Local Government Area.
According to the police, preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect allegedly confessed to participating in several kidnapping operations across Dukku, Kwami and Funakaye Local Government Areas.
Following his arrest, security operatives intensified their search for other members of the suspected syndicate, forcing the kidnappers to abandon three victims.

The rescued victims were identified as 44-year-old Hauwa Alhaji Sani, 16-year-old Aishatu Alhaji Sani and two-year-old Umaru Alhaji Sani, all residents of Jonde Village in Dukku.
The security team also recovered a Honda motorcycle and three keypad mobile phones during the operation.
In a separate operation, police officers attached to the Safer Highway Patrol and Operation Hattara intercepted a Peugeot 406 allegedly carrying illicit drugs along the Liji-Biu Road.
The driver, identified as 37-year-old Mohammed Abdullahi, also known as Babangida, was arrested after officers reportedly found 2,500 sachets of 100mg Tramadol capsules in the vehicle.
The police said both suspects and the recovered exhibits remained in custody as investigations continued.
