Three men have been arrested by operatives of the Edo State Security Corps, ESSC, over an alleged attempt to sell a company truck and its goods in Benin City, Edo State.
The suspects, identified as Muhammed Magaji, Muhammed Bashir and Abba Abubakar, were reportedly apprehended in the Igbobi area of Benin City after security operatives received intelligence about the alleged deal.
According to the Deputy Commander of Operations of the ESSC, Richard Balogun, the suspects allegedly travelled from Asaba, Delta State, with plans to dispose of a truck belonging to a water production company as well as the products loaded inside it.
Balogun disclosed that the suspects had allegedly sold 150 bags of sachet water before attempting to sell the vehicle when they were arrested by operatives of the corps.

He added that the suspects had since been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
Sources familiar with the incident alleged that the company driver, Muhammed Magaji, who reportedly started working with the firm on May 22, 2026, conspired with the two other suspects to divert the truck from its assigned delivery route within Asaba to Benin City.
The truck was reportedly loaded with sachet water intended for distribution around the Asaba area before it was allegedly diverted.
A source said the suspects initially arranged to meet a buyer in Benin City, but the supposed buyer failed to show up after they arrived.
The source further claimed that after waiting for hours, the suspects began searching for another buyer for the vehicle after allegedly disposing of the sachet water.
Security operatives were later alerted to the development, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
Speaking after his arrest, the driver reportedly admitted travelling to Benin City with the vehicle but claimed his accomplices informed him that a buyer had already been arranged before they were intercepted by security personnel.
