
A joint team of security operatives has rescued a kidnapped woman, identified as Jemila Ibrahim, and arrested five suspects linked to her abduction in Edo State.
The victim was reportedly kidnapped on May 10, 2026, but regained freedom three days later following coordinated bush-combing operations around Okpege River Road in Iyuku community, Jattu, located in Etsako West Local Government Area.
According to the Edo State Police Command, the arrested suspects include Nura Saminu, Shaibu Isah, Suraj Sabitu, Yajubu Sagiru, and Oseni Abdullahi, all aged between 23 and 26 years.

Police spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed that the rescued woman was immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment, while the suspects remain in police custody pending the conclusion of investigations and subsequent prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Monday Agbonika, praised the operatives for the successful rescue operation and reaffirmed the command’s determination to tackle kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
