Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has described Pep Guardiola as the best manager in the world and hailed Manchester City as the greatest team in Premier League history.
Arteta made the remarks during his post-match interview after Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on the final day of the 2025/2026 Premier League season on Sunday.
“We had to raise our level because you have opposition who are constantly asking that question of you,” Arteta said. “In my opinion, we had the best team in the history of this competition pushing us. In Pep, by far, he is the best manager in the world.”

The Arsenal boss praised his side’s performance throughout the campaign, noting that competing against Guardiola’s City had forced them to reach new heights.
“To do it with those circumstances and in the manner we did it, it is all about the ‘we’ in this team. I loved every minute of it,” he added.
Arteta’s comments came after a season-long title race in which Arsenal finished strongly but were ultimately edged out by City’s consistency and dominance under Guardiola.
