
Police in Imo State have arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a nursing student, Wendy Achumba, in Obowo Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects identified as Onyema Okonkwo and Emmanuel Onyekachi were reportedly apprehended after a coordinated manhunt involving police operatives, local vigilantes, and community youths.
Reports said the suspects allegedly attempted to flee the area after the incident, but were tracked down through information provided by residents.
According to findings from preliminary investigations, suspicion reportedly fell on the suspects after community members claimed they were among the last people seen around the victim before her death.

Police investigations and alleged confessional statements also linked the suspects to the crime.
Sources said the tragic incident allegedly occurred after the nursing student rejected sexual advances made by the suspects.
Investigators further revealed that the suspects allegedly attacked the young woman in an attempt to silence her after she recognized them.
The incident has sparked outrage across the community and on social media, with many Nigerians demanding justice for the late student and calling for improved security for students living off campus.
The suspects have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department as police continue investigations and prepare for possible prosecution.
