
Troops have arrested a suspected car thief at a checkpoint in Abuja and recovered a stolen vehicle during the operation.
Security sources said the suspect was intercepted around 11:53 am on Sunday at the Gwagwalada checkpoint in the Federal Capital Territory while driving the stolen vehicle.
Troops of the 176 Guards Battalion under Operation MESA carried out the arrest as part of ongoing efforts to tackle crime within the FCT.

The suspect reportedly confessed during initial questioning that he took the vehicle after a disagreement with his employers and fled with it before heading to Abuja.
Both the suspect and the recovered vehicle are now in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.
The arrest highlights continued security operations in Abuja aimed at curbing vehicle theft and other crimes in the capital.
