
Troops of the Nigerian Army clashed with suspected terrorist elements during a patrol in Kebbi State on Sunday, recovering weapons and other items after a brief firefight.
Security sources said troops of the 1 Brigade operating from Forward Operating Base Kyangakwai carried out a fighting patrol toward Dogon Daji in Dandi Local Government Area at about 11 am on June 14.
During the operation, the soldiers made contact with suspected Lakurawa terrorist elements and immediately engaged them in a brief exchange of fire.

After the clash, the troops recovered one rocket-propelled grenade tube, three explosive devices, two motorcycles, and other items abandoned by the fleeing suspects. The report added that troops later dominated the area with continued patrols to prevent the terrorists from regrouping and to maintain control of the general area.
The incident adds to ongoing military operations against armed groups in Kebbi and other border states where Lakurawa terrorists have been active.
