Abia State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, Agwu Ukpo, after a video showing him assaulting a woman during a dispute over a pot of soup went viral. The incident occurred in Ohafia Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson, Maureen Chinaka, said operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit tracked and apprehended Ukpo, an indigene of Akanu Ohafia, following actionable intelligence. The victim was identified as Amarachi Chinyere.
Chinaka stated the suspect is being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department and will be charged with assault and attempted murder once investigations are concluded. She described the act as barbaric and warned against all forms of domestic violence.
