The Plateau State Police Command has arrested another suspect in connection with the mob attack that led to the death of 25-year-old model, Ibrahim Mbaya, in Jos.
The latest suspect, identified as 24-year-old Yusuf Christopher Beskeni, was apprehended following intelligence gathered by detectives investigating the incident. His arrest increases the number of suspects in police custody to five.
Police said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly played a role in the attack by helping to restrain the victim while he was being assaulted by members of the mob. The incident reportedly began after Mbaya was accused in connection with a missing mobile phone.
Confirming the development, the command’s spokesperson, SP Alfred Alabo, said investigators are making steady progress and remain committed to ensuring that everyone involved in the killing is identified and prosecuted.

The Acting Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, DCP Usman Sheikh Adamu, assured the victim’s family and members of the public that justice would be served. He reiterated the command’s determination to carry out a thorough investigation and hold all those responsible accountable.
The police also disclosed that efforts have been intensified to track down other suspects who are still at large. Residents were encouraged to provide useful information that could assist security operatives in locating the fleeing suspects.
The command condemned mob justice, urging the public to report suspected crimes to law enforcement agencies instead of resorting to violence, while reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and enforcing the rule of law.
