
The Yobe State Police Command has arrested eight suspects in separate operations carried out across the state over alleged theft, violent assault, and drug-related offences.
According to the command, the arrests were made by operatives in Bursari, Damaturu, and Nguru Local Government Areas during coordinated efforts aimed at curbing crime and improving security. The operations also led to the recovery of a motorcycle and other items believed to be connected to the alleged crimes.
Police spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said one suspect, identified as 25-year-old Musa Musa, was apprehended for allegedly stealing construction materials meant for the renovation of Daskum Primary School in Bursari Local Government Area. He was reportedly intercepted along the Gashua Road while transporting iron rods and other materials suspected to have been stolen from the school.

Investigators also recovered a black TVS motorcycle allegedly used to convey the stolen items. Police said another suspect, identified simply as Alhaji, escaped during the operation and remains at large. Efforts are ongoing to track him down, while Musa has been charged to court.
In a separate incident in Damaturu, officers attached to the A Division arrested two suspects, Adam Maigaimu, 20, and Mohammed Umar, 18, following a violent altercation involving an axe. Police said the clash left the victims with serious injuries. The suspects are also alleged to have stolen a ram belonging to a resident before selling it for personal gain.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Nguru Division raided a suspected criminal hideout in the Anguwar Yan Rake area, where five additional suspects were arrested over alleged criminal and drug-related activities. The command said investigations are continuing to determine the extent of their involvement in other offences.
