
The Yobe State Police Command has arrested 23 suspects following coordinated raids and intelligence-led operations carried out across the state.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, operatives from Tarmuwa Division, working with local vigilante members, raided Tashan Fulani Village in Tarmuwa LGA around noon on May 14, 2026. Four suspects were arrested during the operation.
Officers recovered two and a half bundles of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, five packets of liquid substances, 10 litres of a substance known locally as “Suck and Die”, along with Tramadol and Enzol tablets.

In a separate operation on May 13, 2026, at about 9:30 p.m., officers of A Division Damaturu conducted a joint night patrol and raid across identified black spots in Damaturu township. The areas covered included Zango CMC, Mass Transit Area, and Jerusalem Ajayi.
Nineteen suspects, made up of 14 males and 5 females, were arrested. Recovered items included Tramadol capsules, Exol, Diazepam tablets, and quantities of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The Command said all 23 suspects are currently undergoing screening, and those found culpable will be charged to court.
State Commissioner of Police, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, has directed officers and tactical teams to sustain the operational tempo and intensify efforts to flush out criminal elements from their hideouts.
He also urged residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information and reporting suspicious activity in their communities.
