
The Kwara State Police Command has arrested two suspected cult members as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating within Ilorin metropolis.
The suspects, identified as 33-year-old Abdullahi Omotoho and Abdullahi Kawu, popularly known as “B-Red,” were apprehended in separate intelligence-led operations carried out by operatives of the command.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the arrests followed credible intelligence and sustained surveillance.
During the operation, officers recovered a locally fabricated Beretta pistol from one of the suspects.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Omotoho is allegedly affiliated with the notorious Klans-Avea cult group, known to be active within the Ilorin area.
The police further disclosed that actionable intelligence obtained during the investigation led to the arrest of the second suspect, strengthening efforts to track and dismantle organized criminal groups in the state.

“The operation is part of a broader campaign to combat cultism, violent crimes, and other threats to public safety across Kwara State,” the statement noted.
Authorities added that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members linked to the syndicates.
Both suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations.
They are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigative process.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, commended the officers involved for their professionalism and dedication.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing strategies, emphasizing that criminal elements will find no safe haven in Kwara State.
