The Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State has dismissed as false reports alleging that bandits attacked a primary school in the community and killed two pupils.
The claim, which circulated widely through a viral video and a radio broadcast, caused panic among residents and parents on Monday.
It alleged that armed bandits invaded a public school in Imota and carried out the deadly attack.
Reacting swiftly, the Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, Benson Sunday Ayodele, described the report as “false, misleading, and entirely unfounded.”
He stated that there was no verified record or credible security information confirming such an incident within the community.

According to the station’s management, immediate checks with the Nigeria Police, local authorities, and community leaders revealed that no attack occurred and no casualties were recorded.
The station expressed regret over the panic caused and reaffirmed its commitment to responsible journalism and accurate reporting.
Authorities have reiterated that Imota remains peaceful and secure, advising the public to rely only on credible sources for information regarding safety and security.
