Veteran Nigerian actor and film executive, Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, popularly known as Olu Jacobs, has died at the age of 84.
His death was announced by his son, Olusoji Jacobs, in an Instagram post on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
Olusoji said the family was grateful to God for the life of the veteran actor, describing him as a beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle.
He also referred to Jacobs as “The Lion of Lufodo” while asking bloggers and social media influencers to respect the privacy of the family during the period of mourning.
Olu Jacobs was one of Nigeria’s most recognised veteran actors, with a career spanning several decades across theatre, television and film.

He also worked as a film executive and contributed significantly to the growth of Nigeria’s contemporary entertainment industry.

His distinctive acting style and versatility in portraying different characters earned him widespread recognition and established him as one of the notable figures in Nigeria’s theatre and film history.
His death marks the loss of one of the country’s most prominent veteran actors.
