Two suspected kidnappers are in police custody following their arrest in connection with a failed abduction attempt in Delta State, as security operatives continue efforts to dismantle the criminal gang behind the attack.
The suspects, identified as Iliyasu Hassan and Idris Abdulkarim, were apprehended during a joint operation carried out by officers of the “A” Division and members of a local vigilante group in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
According to the police, the arrests followed investigations into an attempted kidnapping that occurred on June 19, 2026. Acting on intelligence, security operatives tracked the suspects to a forest hideout and arrested them on June 22 after they reportedly emerged to purchase food and medication.
