Former Big Brother Naija housemate, reality TV star, and actress, Erica Nlewedim, has revealed that she endured three years of relentless online criticism following her participation in the reality television show.
Speaking during an interview on Toke Moments, Erica shared how constant insults on social media eventually affected her mental health and led her to seek professional help.
According to the actress, she initially failed to recognize the emotional impact of the criticism until she began experiencing anxiety.
“I was getting like three years of back-to-back insults. I had to see a therapist because of that show,” she said.
Erica explained that opening her social media accounts became overwhelming because of the endless stream of negative comments and notifications.
She disclosed that the situation became so intense that she deliberately stepped away from acting in 2024 to focus on her mental and emotional well-being.

“I went to therapy in 2024. 2024 was my quiet time. I didn’t act in any movie,” she said.
The former BBNaija contestant noted that taking a break helped her identify personal struggles she had previously ignored.
Although she admitted that the experience came with emotional challenges, Erica acknowledged that participating in the reality show transformed her life financially.
“I’ll never go to a show like Big Brother Naija again in my life. I’m happy I did it because, of course, it changed my life money-wise, but I’m never doing it again if I’m given the opportunity,” she added.
Erica participated in the 2020 edition of Big Brother Naija but was later disqualified for violating the house rules.
Her latest comments have reignited conversations about the psychological effects of online bullying, the pressure associated with fame, and the importance of prioritizing mental health.
