The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has confirmed that two of its staff members remain in captivity six days after they were abducted while on official duty in Ogun State.
In a statement issued on Monday in Ibadan, the company said the employees were kidnapped on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in the Ogun region, expressing deep concern over their safety.
IBEDC noted that it is working closely with relevant security agencies to secure the release of the abducted workers. The company also said it is maintaining active engagement with the victims’ families, providing them with necessary support during the difficult period.
“We are deeply concerned about this situation, and our thoughts are with our colleagues and their families at this difficult time,” the statement read.

The firm, however, declined to disclose further details, citing the sensitive nature of the incident and the need to prioritise the safety of those involved.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has denied that the abduction occurred within the state. The Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the command had no record of such an incident.
“No such incident happened in Ogun State. A lot of reporters have called on that issue, but it is not in Ogun State,” he stated, suggesting that enquiries be directed to neighbouring states.
The conflicting claims have raised uncertainty over the exact location of the abduction, even as efforts continue to secure the safe return of the missing IBEDC workers.
