The Lagos State Government has arrested a suspected vandal for allegedly dismantling parts of a concrete road barrier at Kosofe Bus Stop, Mile 12, along the Ikorodu Road.
The suspect was apprehended during monitoring and enforcement operations carried out by officials of the state government.
The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed the arrest in a statement shared on Saturday.
According to Wahab, the suspect was allegedly caught removing iron rods, cables, steel reinforcements and other structural components from the barrier.
The concrete barrier was installed to prevent pedestrians from crossing the expressway at unauthorised points and to improve safety for road users and residents.
Wahab said the suspect had been arrested and would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He explained that the removal of structural components from public infrastructure could weaken the facility and undermine efforts to protect pedestrians and motorists.
The commissioner reiterated the state government’s commitment to safeguarding public infrastructure and taking action against individuals involved in vandalism.

The arrest is part of ongoing enforcement efforts across Lagos to curb the vandalism of bridges, road barriers and other government-owned infrastructure.
The state government has also recently intensified its crackdown on suspected vandals following reports of the removal of metal components from public structures across the state.
Authorities warned that individuals found damaging or stealing parts of public infrastructure would face legal action.
