Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong is confident Nigeria will secure qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations despite a tricky draw in Group L.
Nigeria will face Madagascar, co-hosts Tanzania, and Guinea-Bissau in the qualifying campaign. While the three nations are often described as minnows, Troost-Ekong believes the group will test the Super Eagles’ resolve.
“It is not an easy group, but I trust them to get over the line,” the former captain told CAFonline.

The Super Eagles will begin their journey at home against Madagascar’s Barea in September. The opening fixture sets the tone for what promises to be a competitive qualifying series across West and East Africa.
Nigeria finished third at the last AFCON tournament hosted by Morocco under head coach Éric Chelle. With that experience behind them, the team will be aiming to build momentum and book an early ticket to the 2027 finals.
Troost-Ekong says he has full faith in the squad’s ability to rise to the occasion and deliver when it matters most.
