Nigerian troops have successfully repelled an attack on several communities in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, forcing the attackers to retreat after a fierce gun battle.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when security personnel responded to reports of gunfire around the Gimti Galadima, Kobodon and Kaduno communities. On arrival, the troops found armed men allegedly attempting to set fire to Fulani settlements.
The soldiers engaged the attackers with superior firepower, forcing them to flee toward Kugot village in neighbouring Barkin Ladi Local Government Area before they could cause further destruction.

The attack sparked panic among residents, with many women and children fleeing across a nearby river to Langai in search of safety.
Security sources confirmed that no soldier was killed or injured during the operation. Troops have since intensified patrols across the affected communities to prevent fresh attacks and reassure residents of their safety.
Authorities say the increased security presence is aimed at maintaining peace and protecting lives and property in the area as normalcy gradually returns.
