A man who had earlier been reported missing has been found dead at an illegal mining site in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to security sources, troops of Operation Enduring Peace, in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), launched a search operation after receiving a report that the victim, identified as Jerry, had disappeared from the Rantya area.

The search team later recovered his body at an illegal mining site. Preliminary findings indicate that he had left home to engage in illegal mining activities but did not return, prompting relatives to alert security personnel.
Authorities have commenced an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death and identify those responsible.
The incident has renewed concerns over the dangers associated with illegal mining and the security challenges in parts of Plateau State.
