Nigerian troops have apprehended four individuals in Sokoto State over their alleged involvement in transporting materials suspected to be used in the production of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The arrests were carried out by troops of the 8 Division Garrison during a security operation in Isa Local Government Area, as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics networks in the North-West region.
According to security sources, the suspects were intercepted at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Saturday in Shanawa while conveying metal bed frames and metal plates reportedly looted from the Bafarawa community.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the recovered items are commonly utilized in the fabrication of locally made explosive devices.

The suspects and the materials were immediately taken into military custody for further investigation.
Authorities are currently working to determine the intended destination of the materials and to establish whether the suspects have links to terrorist groups or other criminal networks operating in the region.
Military sources emphasized that the operation is part of broader counterterrorism strategies aimed at cutting off supply chains that enable insurgents and bandits to manufacture explosives used in attacks against civilians and security personnel.
The suspects remain in custody pending the outcome of investigations, after which they may face prosecution if found culpable.
Security agencies are also probing the circumstances surrounding the alleged looting of the materials and whether additional accomplices are involved.
Efforts to reach the Nigerian Army spokesperson, Colonel Appolonia Anele, for official comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
