Troops of the Nigerian Army operating under Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised five suspected terrorists during a coordinated ambush in Borno State.
The operation, which took place on April 29 in the Mayanti area, was carried out by soldiers from a forward operating base as part of ongoing military offensives under Operation Desert Sanity.
According to intelligence sources, the troops had strategically laid an ambush following credible information on insurgent movement within the area.
The soldiers later made contact with the terrorists in the evening, leading to a fierce engagement.

“The troops engaged the terrorists effectively upon contact, resulting in the neutralisation of five of them,” a source disclosed.
Following the encounter, the troops recovered several items believed to belong to the fleeing insurgents. These include two bicycles, pieces of fabric, and food supplies suspected to be used for logistics.
The military unit has since repositioned to sustain pressure on terrorist elements and restrict their movement across the region.
Military authorities have reiterated that troops remain highly motivated and committed to ongoing clearance operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace to communities in the North-East.
Operation Hadin Kai continues to intensify ambushes and clearance missions as part of broader efforts to degrade insurgent activities and ensure lasting stability in the region.
