
Troops of the 159 Battalion have apprehended two individuals suspected of having links to terrorist activities during a routine stop-and-search operation in Yobe State.
The arrest reportedly took place on April 30 at about 8:00 a.m. at a military checkpoint in Kanama. The suspects, identified as Dahiru Mohammed (40) and Ismail Adamu (34), both natives of Geidam, were intercepted while returning from Damasak Market.
According to security sources, the suspects drew attention during a routine inspection, prompting a thorough search that uncovered suspicious items and led to their immediate arrest.

Preliminary investigations revealed incriminating materials on their mobile phones, raising concerns about possible affiliations with terrorist groups.
Items recovered from the suspects include two smartphones, a large quantity of clothing, religious materials such as hijabs, turbans, prayer mats, beads, children’s clothing, an umbrella, and a cash sum of ₦408,500.
The suspects are currently in military custody as investigations continue to determine the extent of their involvement and any potential connections to terrorist networks.
