Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a suspected foreign spy following a failed terrorist infiltration attempt in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.
The arrest occurred during a follow-up operation carried out by soldiers of the 68 Battalion in Mallam Fatori on July 13 at about 1:22 p.m.
The operation was part of intensified security sweeps launched after terrorists attempted to breach a military position at Cross Kauwa on July 11 but were successfully repelled.
Security sources revealed that the suspect, identified as Abubakar Mohammed Zen, claimed to be a citizen of the Republic of Niger. He reportedly told investigators that he had travelled from Duguri, a community within Abadam LGA.

Items recovered from the suspect include a mobile phone, Airtel recharge cards, a horse, and a cash sum of N500.
Military authorities confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation.
Investigations are ongoing to verify his identity, track his movements, and determine any possible links to terrorist groups operating within the Lake Chad region.
The arrest forms part of continued exploitation operations by Operation HADIN KAI aimed at uncovering terrorist collaborators, informants, and logistics networks in the aftermath of the failed attack on military formations in the area.
Security operations across the region remain heightened as troops intensify efforts to dismantle insurgent activities and strengthen surveillance along border communities.
