Grief has enveloped families, friends, and colleagues following the tragic death of three National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Adamawa State.
The deceased corps members Jalilat Suleiman, Usman Shuaibu, and Abdullahi Dauda lost their lives in a fatal road accident along the Narehi axis of the Girei–Song Road on June 3, 2026.
They were laid to rest on Saturday amid tears and heartfelt tributes.
The trio, who belonged to the 2026 Batch A Stream II, had just concluded their orientation camp and were on their way to settle into their places of primary assignment when the unfortunate incident occurred.
What is typically a period filled with excitement and new beginnings for corps members quickly turned into a moment of sorrow, as their promising journeys were cut short.
At the Specialist Hospital in Yola, an atmosphere of deep mourning prevailed as officials of the NYSC Adamawa Secretariat, alongside family members, friends, and sympathisers, gathered to pay their last respects.
Parents wept openly over the painful loss of their children, while fellow corps members stood in shock, struggling to process the sudden tragedy.
Many recalled the shared dreams, aspirations, and bonds formed during the orientation exercise.

The solemn ceremony was attended by religious leaders, traditional rulers, representatives of humanitarian organisations, NYSC officials, and members of the public.
Speaking on behalf of the State Coordinator, NYSC officials expressed profound sorrow over the loss and assured the bereaved families of continued support during this difficult time.
An emotional highlight of the farewell was the presence of staff and corps members from Nurul Yaqeen Academy in Mubi North, who travelled a long distance to honour the deceased a testament to the impact they had already made within a short period.
As condolence letters were presented to the families and final prayers offered, a heavy silence descended on the gathering, underscoring the fragility of life.
Though their lives were tragically cut short, Jalilat, Usman, and Abdullahi are remembered for the lives they touched, the friendships they built, and the dreams they carried.
Their passing serves as a painful reminder of how fleeting life can be, even at the threshold of new beginnings.
