
Three Nigerian soldiers were reportedly killed, while several others sustained injuries after their patrol vehicle struck a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday morning between Machiyan Gyada and Baturen Daji in the Dekara axis near Babanna as the troops were returning from a routine security patrol.

Local sources said the explosion happened when the vehicle drove over what is believed to have been a roadside bomb, causing multiple casualties among the soldiers on board.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian military and the Niger State Government had not officially confirmed the incident or released details on the number of casualties.
The latest explosion has renewed concerns over the increasing use of improvised explosive devices against security personnel in parts of northern Nigeria.
It also follows recent IED-related attacks reported in other northern states, highlighting the persistent security challenges facing troops deployed in the region.
