A Fulani woman identified as Khadijat has been arrested after allegedly stabbing her co-wife, Ramatu, to death following a reported disagreement in Ijoka community, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, August 13, 2026, while members of the family were in the bush harvesting palm kernels.
According to Ramatu’s husband, Jibrin, he received a distress call around 4pm concerning an incident involving his wives and other family members.
He said Ramatu had raised an alarm and cried for help during the alleged attack. Her cries reportedly attracted other members of the family who were working in another part of the bush.
Jibrin said the family members attempted to reach the location but Khadijat allegedly warned them not to enter, claiming the area was unsafe.
The family subsequently contacted him, and by the time they arrived at the scene, Khadijat had reportedly left.
Ramatu was allegedly found with multiple stab wounds and was already dead.
Jibrin said the circumstances surrounding the incident later pointed to Khadijat as the alleged attacker. He added that the two women had a disagreement several weeks earlier, although the family did not expect the dispute to escalate into violence.

Following the discovery of Ramatu’s body, community members reportedly took her remains to the traditional leader, who alerted the relevant security authorities.
The arrest of Khadijat was later confirmed by a presenter with Ankpa Radio-Television in a video posted on Sunday, August 23.
Jibrin appealed for calm and stressed that the incident was allegedly an internal family dispute, urging residents not to blame the host Igala community.
He also said members of the Fulani community in neighbouring Benue and Nasarawa states had been informed and asked to assist authorities in locating Khadijat if necessary.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged killing remain under investigation.
