
No fewer than five persons have lost their lives, while eight others sustained serious injuries following a road accident in Agaie Local Government Area of Niger State.
The tragic incident, which occurred on Sunday, involved a trailer carrying about 40 passengers and a tanker. The trailer was reportedly travelling from Gusau in Zamfara State to Shagamu in Ogun State when the crash happened.

Confirming the development, the Desk Officer of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Agaie, Hussaini Guregi, disclosed that the accident was caused by a faulty tanker parked along the road and a failed overtaking attempt by the trailer driver.
According to him, the driver lost control while trying to avoid the stationary tanker, leading to the fatal crash.
Five victims were confirmed dead at the scene, while the injured were rushed to the General Hospital in Agaie for medical attention.
The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
